The Catalyst That Helped Me Break Free from Time-Wasting Habits

I used to spend an atrocious amount of time on YouTube.

At the time, truthfully, I was feeling stuck in life.

Everyday felt the same.

At 5pm, I’d come home exhausted from the commute, flop on the couch, and scroll YouTube endlessly.

I had all kinds of excuses for wasting time like this. I was “watching the news” (I need to be informed, after all!), then I’d think “…now I need to relax,” and then “just one more…”

It was a form of escape. I hated the way it made me feel stuck in a rut and like I was wasting my time.

I needed something bigger to care about

The problem was, I didn’t know exactly how I should be spending my time.

I worked out on occasion, which felt good.

Buy beyond that, I didn’t have a goal I was trying to achieve.

That’s when I discovered online writing.

Ironically, it was a recommendation I saw on YouTube for Nicolas Cole’s book The Art and Business of Online Writing that complete changed my perspective.
