I wonder if people want to "stop feeling" negative emotions, or that they want to get better at tolerating them.

Conor Mcgregor, the mixed martial artist, talks about consistently exposing himself to anxiety so he can get used to it. He knows nervousness is part of the fight, and the first time he felt it, he realized he needed to make that feeling "feel like home" or else it would cripple him.

It's true that discomfort is part of life. But I don't know if most people today prefer to run away, or want to learn to endure and don't know how.
