I really appreciate this perspective.

I think it's important to consider the questions -- can I do things to help myself, or can I not? Can I only be helped by a professional and not by my own actions?

Deciding that you have some control is powerful. I agree, it's not possible to control the condition in some cases like schizophrenia. But for disorders like depression and anxiety, particularly the less severe cases, there often are ways people can help themselves. I think Tim outlines some of those activities well.

Taking back that power doesn't mean you don't have the disorder. It just means you can also take action help it.
